Christopher Padilla A programmer/developer by profession, a photographer/graphic artist by heart. He started working with Photoshop in 2003, creating designs for desktop applications and websites. In 2004 he started to work as a freelancer for developing small projects and thesis for students. He continued to do this as his additional income while he was studying more about Multimedia and Programming. In 2005 he was employed in a High end Furniture Export Company as one of the first Photo Manipulator/ Graphic Designer. This was one of his first learning curve of understanding the difference between fast design for the price of less quality but more quantity design outputs, and intensive conceptualized designs in high quality output that considerably takes more time to deliver. He didn't last long at this company since his studies caught too much attention that he had to stop his work and concentrate on his studies. Mid of 2005 he was assigned at a big organization as a Webmaster, handling all the websites and developing them from scratch (those were more than 10 websites). He concentrated more on delivering the client's preferences and learned more on how to create better designs for web layouts which won't affect the website's loading performance. Besides of web layout, he got first hand experience in delivering flash animations and advance cascading style sheet designs. He continued servicing this organization till early 2006. At the end of 2005 to early 2006 he started working as an part time Instructor at Informatics, teaching subjects such data modeling, sql and .NET programming, Multimedia and Web development. After this work he needed to go back to Germany and worked there as an Webmaster and Head Designer/Technical Consultant for over 1 year. This is where he got his first hand experience in shooting products and enhancing them using Photoshop. Besides of being the first experience, it was also the worst. Since he had to shoot/enhance over 4000 types of products within 3 months (and those were powertools, with tiny small details). He later got an assistant IT person who helped him in all of his duties. During his stay there, he worked also as a freelance web developer and designer. There was one particular client who had a Steakhouse with very expensive food and wanted to display them all on his website. He contracted Chris as his web developer, but the project took longer than expected because they didn't have photos of their restaurant and their foods/desserts. Chris offered them to do the shooting and asked only a small fee for that. This is were he bought for the first time an own camera (literally first time), since he hated shooting photos and he had no fun in it at all. He didn't even understand the basic specs of a normal point and shoot camera. But since he already bought a DSLR, he started shooting at events and disco's. His Hip Hop friends asked him most of the time to shoot at their Rap battles. As he gets tired in shooting events, he started shooting landscapes and macro's in his free time. He started visiting the Photography forums at www.tipidpc.com and gathered as many tips he can. He started posting photos online and listened to their critiques and comments. Some of his shots gave a good impact to his friends and online buddies. This is were he discovered that he has the Eye for Photography, additionally having the needed skill in Digital Post Processing from his long experience in editing Photos with Photoshop. In 2007 he started joining www.deviantart.com and trained his eye on the side of dark or advance arts. He started doing Photomanipulations and shooting abstract arts and portraiture. 2007 was also the year he quit from his job in Germany and went back to the Philippines. He was then employed at a US company based in Makati as Web developer/designer and analyst. He was also the Company Photographer. He further learned alot thru this company in design and programming. He was totally occupied by this work and worked everyday in overtime at nightshift, that he completely stopped Photography for almost 5 months. When he wanted to start again, he didn't have the motivation and lost his Eye in Photography. His photos were a total mess and lost his will in shooting Photos. He then decided to buy his Fiancee a Canon S3IS and taught her the basic techniques in Photography. He also tried to attend a Photography class by Leo Castillo in Ortigas. When his classmates saw his shots from Germany, they all encouraged him to start over again and not to give up. Chris then started to join the Pipho and DPP website as a lurker and watched the member's works and techniques they use. He started to shoot landscapes/seascapes and traveled far from Manila. He quit his job in Makati and started his own Business for IT solutions and Photography. 2008 was his biggest recovery in Photography and his shots started to improve more and more, until he became better than he was during his stay in Germany. He attended further seminars and groups, and attended in September 2008 the Photokina (biggest photography tradeshow in Germany) to gather more tips and shooting sessions. In November 2008, he was invited as assistant Photographer for the AirsoftXtreme International magazine shooting in Nasugbu, Batangas. This is were the AX group (airsoftXtreme group) saw that Chris has a good eye in Portraiture Photography, and further invited him for shooting. The next shooting was in Taytay were he was again shooting models for the AX group. At the same location, he organized with the group to have a 2 day nonstop shooting just for fun and portfolio purpose. He taught them his eye techniques and post processing skills. In January 2009 he conducted his first workshop at Ecopark, with the assistance of the AX group. This was his first hand experience in doing his own workshop. He became very known at Multiply.com for his works and sharing his techniques online with his friends and contacts/groups. It took only a few months until he was invited by the senior admins of the DigitalPinoy Club of Multiply to become an assistant administrator. He was further recognized when he started shooting Professional Food Photography and Product Shooting for certain companies. From February – June he was invited several times as photographer for certain projects as xdeal and also as photographer for a paid shooting for the One Bacardi Club. In March and in May he shot the cover layouts of the AirsoftXtreme International Magazine (during this time he became the main photographer of the magazine). During May-June 2009 he held several workshops/tutorials at his house and taught his Post Processing/Photomanipulation techniques. Occassionally he also had some private tutoring for newbie photographers for basic 101 shooting. Now he's back in Germany and was employed again by his former employer. He will continue to grow his skills and hopes to share as much as he can through this website, and hopes to conduct a Workshop in the future when he comes back to the Philippines. | ||||
